Moree is located 496km in land from Ballina in New South Wales. The area was first explored in 1832 and the first recorded settlers were in 1848 with the first Post Office opened there in 1853. The town of Moree wasn't gazetted until 1862, since this time the town has had a colourful history from floods in the late 1800's to the first telephone exchange opening in Moree.
